Here we have a relatively famous little beast! 5" gauge 'Chub', and the subject of a recent full nut and bolt rebuild here at The Steam Workshop by Keith Appleton, and featured on his well viewed 'youtube' channel. (we've included the links to the episodes below for your entertainment!).
This engine was a sorry sight when she came to us,...... see,.....
Left in a damp garage for a good number of years by the looks of her, so we tested the boiler before deciding what to do with her. After finding that is was actually in very good condition and well made, passing with flying colours, and after similar investigations proved that the rough state of the loco was actually mostly cosmetic, we decided that this was a great opportunity to give Keith a 'transformation' project to follow through from start to finish. She now runs beautifully and is fully tested and certificated and ready to hit the rails once again for a fresh lease of life. And a lovely little loco she is too. Lubrication is mechanical and she's fitted with an injector and an axle pump with bypass valve on the footplate.
