Here we have a nice and tidy fairly new 3 1/2" gauge LMS Fowler boiler scot, 'Royal Scots Fusilier', 6103. This is another model that has come to us before it's done a lot of running by the looks of it. She's been run a few times, but judging by the general tidyness and the lack of serious soot build up in the fire and smoke boxes we don't think she's seen a great deal of work.
Mechanically this is a nice and crisply engineered model, with very little wear n tear on the bottom end. The boiler is silver soldered copper, and a neat and tidy job, and although structually tight and sound, we found that under twice working pressure there were a few pin weaps on some of the stay nuts in the firebox. Small ones, that we reckon would probably take up with a drop of radweld or some localised HT locktite.
There is an injector, an axle pump and a hand pump in the tender, lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the footplate as per usual practice.
