Here we have our very first 3 1/2" gauge 'Rob Roy', Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 from the Martin Evans design stable. A nicely made little thing this, which we feel has perhaps been 'resting' for the last few years! The bodywork and paint isn't going to win any prizes any time soon, but the over all effect is pretty tidy. Mechanically she is well built and still not unduly worn. We've had her on air and the signs are that she will run very nicely once warmed by steam and with her wheels on the rails again!
There is an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve, as well as a hand pump in the left hand tank. Lubrication is mechanical and on the footplate, and as you'll see from the little video clip, she seems to be over oiling a tad at the moment. We will of course sort that out before she leaves the works.
The boiler looks nicely made, and as with all our finished models, she can be given a full 4 year twice working pressure shell test hydraulic, and a fresh annual steam test so that she is ready to hit the track once more! This is a nice, solidly built little Rob Roy, and it's just itching to be back motoring round your local club,..... now how could you possibly live with yourself if you passed it by! Look at it's little face....... 😉
