Here we have a reather nicely made 3 1/2" gauge LNER B1 'Springbok'. Not to be confused with the rather more simplified and common 5" gauge Martin Evans designed 'Springbok', this is an example of the rare and far more prototypically faithful 'Clarkson' design. We've had one of these before, and because of the rarity we did a full Steam Workshop rebuild on her (see the project page here),.... and this model appears to have been built to a similar standard of detail and quality.
She is brand new and as yet unsteamed. The salt deposits on the backhead are, we think just from the previous hydraulic test some years ago, as we've had the boiler up to twice working pressure and it passed with flying colours.
She runs rather nicely upon air, so we are looking forward to firing her up, should you want the loco with a steam test and ready to play.
There is an axle pump with a footplate mounted bypass valve (that seems to have escaped the gaze of the camera,..... apologies), plus a decent hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front running board, and there is also a steam brake cylinder under the cab footplate.
