Here we have a nicely built 7¼" Gauge GWR Collett 5800 Class 0-4-2 No. 5803.
She is built mostly to the Martin Evan's well proven 'Dart' design, although the safety valve bonnet has been relocated to the correct position, and the cylinders are of a slightly larger bore to give her a little more power. (Under a decent load, she will suck the coal off the shovel!)
As per the prototype she has Stephenson’s valve gear, with all the usual fittings, including twin injectors.
She was originally built in 1996 by a friend of ours, who is a well known and prolific model engineer, and comes with a current Boiler Test certificate.
This is a loco we've known well. We've owned it ourselves and run it regularly in the 7 1/4" gauge society over the last few years. It left in part exchange for a lovely little 5" Caledonian 2-4-0 and although it's been away for the last couple, it's now come back into the fold! Over the next week or so we will get time to take some crisp detail photos of it to pop up here, but for the moment, here are some of the photos from the last few years of playing!
More detail photos to follow very shortly, but if you'd like to know anything in the meantime, please don't hesitate to give us a bell on 07816 963463.
